B. Samochis, Oana Eleonora Glogoveţan, C. Crisan

Abstract

Based on the data presented by Eurostat, the authors highlighted the deep split formed in the structure of Romanian farms, according to their size. This split is unique in the European Union where most of the agricultural surfaces are held by either very small or very large farms. In this paper we highlighted the causes as well as the main consequences of this phenomenon on the agriculture in general and on the rural area in particular.
