Abstract

Seleuș farm SC Moragroind SRL cultivated several varieties of hops, modern varieties, productive, with German origin, such as Magnum, Merkur and Perle. Since Romanian hops growers complained about mismatch problems of these varieties recently imported, we have tried to highlight the differences in the environment, especially in the climatic atmospheric temperature and precipitation between the two areas of growing hops: Sighisoara (Romania) and Hüll - Hallertau (Bavaria - Germany).

Annual average, per 19 years (1964-1982), from the region atmospheric temperatures Seleuș MS (recorded at weather station at Dumbrăveni) is 8.3 º C. Absolute minimum of -29.2 ° C was recorded here on 13/01/1969. Historical maximum average of atmospheric temperature at this station was registered in 25th of August, 2012, ie 39.6 º C (in the shade).

Global warming was felt very strongly, especially in the last two years (2011 and 2012, in 2012 was recorded, in fact, historical maximum air temperature), and in the area of hop Sighișoara. Against climatic parameters at the Hop Research Station in Hüll, Germany, we found positive differences (not favorable) in the atmospheric temperatures, especially in the months of May to August, with adverse effects on vegetation and training hops production.
