THE OPTIMUM PERIOD FOR PLANTING PYRETHRUM SEEDLINGS AND THE PRODUCTION OF PYRETHRUM INFLORESCENCES IN THE FIRST YEAR OF CULTURE

Abstract


Starting a pyrethrum crop under the conditions of Transylvania Plain, can only be done

through seedlings. Between the tested planting periods, the best one proved to be the autumn one in

comparison to the spring and summer planting. Productions obtained in the first year of culture are

comparable to the ones mentioned in the field literature. Among the 3 plant density tested (40000

plant/ha, 50000 plants/ha and 60000 plants/ha), the highest production was obtained for the one of

50000 plants/ha (5 t/ha of fresh inflorescences).
