Abstract

Rodna Mountains show a relatively complex and varied aspect, due to the geological, pedological and hydrologycomplexity which occurred over time. Pastures partially exploited as alpine and subalpine meadows accupies an area ofover 5228.34 hectares, being frequently mapped those with high and middle conservation value, followed by those withlow conservation value with endemic species. The purpose of this study refers to the process of soil erosion which frequently encountered in the last years together with the intensive exploitation of the natural resources, primarily thedeforestation and the intensive grazing. The soil erosion process in alpine meadows is influenced by a series of chemicaland geomorphological factors, by the climate and soil characteristics and also by the land cover management.Morphometric characteristics and grazing influence alpine and subalpine soil degradation in consisting excess of nitrates, which appears from the over usage of organic fertilization.
