Abstract

The article reflects the results of the quantitative study on ascorbic acid, tannins and phenolic compounds in the frozen fruits of nine cultivars of Lonicera caerulea from the collection of the "Alexandru Ciubotaru" National Botanical Garden (Institute). The spectrophotometric evaluation of the ascorbic acid content revealed values within the limits of 23.8 mg / 100 g (cultivar 'Bakcarskaja') and 58.5 mg / 100 g (cultivar 'Leningradskij Welikan'). The development of the distance matrix based on the content of ascorbic acid in the fruits of the nine cultivars of Lonicera caerulea L., demonstrates that both the cultivars 'Karina' and 'Indigo Gem', as well as the cultivars 'Blue Velvet' and 'Siniczka' are the closest among them (P2.8 = 0.799). The significant difference in tannin content values reveals that the bioaccumulation of these compounds is largely determined by genotype. The maximum value (3.7%) is characteristic of the fruits of the 'Blue Velvet' cultivar, and the minimum (0.8%) – of the 'Karina' cultivar. The quantification of phenolic substances demonstrated a very high content of these compounds with antioxidant properties, and the maximum level, detected in the 'Krupnoplodnaya' cultivar, is 3924.4 mg EAG / 100 g d.m. The average value of phenols, calculated in the fruits of the investigated cultivars, is 2328.4 mg gallic acid equivalent / 100 g dry matter, due to which the fruits of Lonicera caerulea L. are among the fruits with the highest antioxidant properties.
