Abstract

SUMMARY In this paper work there are presented the observations made during the years 2006-2007 upon five sweet cherries varieties cultivated in the conditions of the didactic orchard belonging to the Fruit Culture Department from Timisoara. The sweet cherries production was determined by weighting the medium fruits samples, obtaining the production per tree. Table 1 Sweet cherries production in 2006 Variety Medium production (kg/tree) Relative value (%) Difference to the witness Significance Cea mai timpurie 11.13 100 0 witness Van 14.73 132.33 3.60 XXX Bing 12.10 10.68 0.97 X Ulster 14.00 125.74 2.87 XXX Vista 9.50 85.32 -1.63 OO DL 5%= 0.82 DL 1%= 1.20 DL 0.1%= 1.80 The highest fruit production was obtained for Van and Ulster varieties, having a difference to the witness very significant positive. Bing variety has also over-passed the witness having a significant positive difference to the witness. The lowest sweet cherries production gave Vista variety, having a distinct significant negative difference to the witness. Table 3 Sweet cherries production in 2007 Variety Medium production (kg/tree) Relative value (%) Difference to the witness Significance Cea mai timpurie 5.00 100 0 witness Van 8.40 168 3.40 XXX Bing 6.60 132 1.60 XXX Ulster 6.80 136 1.80 XXX Vista 5.40 108 0.40 X DL 5%= 0.33 DL 1%= 0.49 DL 0.1%= 0.73 The highest production in 2007 was obtained from Van variety, but also Bing and Ulster varieties over-passed the witness, all of them having very significant positive differences to the witness. Vista variety had also a production that was higher than the one of the witness and it registered significant positive differences to the witness.
